Hannah and Sam Makins – 27th July 2024
Tell Us How You Met and All About Your Proposal …
We were at secondary school together but we were the quiet ones who didn’t really talk to anyone! We had similar circles of friends but didn’t really chat.
After finishing school, Sam went off to join the RAF and I went to college and then university to do my teaching degree. It was only when Sam was bored on a night shift and saw I was online on Facebook that he decided to say ‘hi’ and the rest is history!
It was Christmas Day 2022, our little girl was 6 months old, and she had gone for a nap so I decided to carry on with a crochet project I was doing. Sam seemed to get a bit agitated for no apparent reason and was asking me why I was doing it at that time!
So I put it away and a few minutes later he walked into the living room and got down on one knee! Apparently, he had been keeping the ring in his shed for 6 months!
Let’s Talk About The Dress And Your Journey …
From the moment I walked into SCB, I felt at ease. Everyone was so friendly, Sarah in particular was great, talking through our wedding with us to get an idea of the theme and style. She asked me what kind of dress I was looking for but also what I would want to avoid. She pulled out 11 dresses in total and ‘the one’ was a dress that I would initially have stayed away from as it was very sparkly with lots of detail and a long train. It turns out she knew what I wanted more than I did! It was a magical experience.
initially wanted something very understated and simple but I think part of me wanted to be a princess for a day! So this fitted the bill perfectly!
I chose Stella York 6752 for my big day
How Did You Feel In Your Gown On The Day …
I felt amazing! It fitted beautifully and the detail and beading was stunning. I honestly felt like a princess!
How Did Your Partner React When They Saw You In Your Dress …
He was close to tears according to lots of our guests. I can’t really remember, it all seems a bit of a blur now!
Where Was Your Venue And What Made You Choose The Venue …
It was in such a peaceful setting, not overlooked at all. It had the rustic feel that we were looking for and was decorated with hundreds of fairy lights.
Are There Any Special Memories You Would Like To Share From Your Special Day …
I wore my late Nan’s engagement ring, which was very special as it felt like she was there with me.
Having our little girl, Harriet, there on our wedding day was wonderful. She is two so we were a little worried about how she would react to the occasion but she was such a little star all day!
Tell Us About Your Wedding Colour And Theme …
Our colour scheme was blush pink and sage green. The bridesmaids’ dresses were in sage green as were the ties of the men in the wedding party. We used lots of gypsophila and blush pink roses at the venue and to decorate the tables.
How Did You Make Your Day Unique To Your Love Story …
A friend had made us a wonderful present using a pallet, decorating it with beautiful words, fairy lights and pegs to hang photographs of us over the 10 years that we have been together.
We kept everything quite quiet as that is what our personalities are like – being the centre of attention is not really our thing!
First Dance …
Our first dance was to ‘Dance with You’ by Brett Young.
Where Did You Honeymoon …
We went to Somerset the week after our wedding. The weather was absolutely beautiful all week, we were very lucky! It was lovely to get away after all of the build up and the big day itself.
