Myth Busting
Your wedding is sure to be one of the most important days of your life, so you need to feel the most beautiful and confident version of yourself on the day! The stylists here at SCB have put together some of the myths we hear the most in our showroom.
Myth: You will know when it’s ‘the dress’ you will get that feeling.
Answer: Brides put a lot of pressure on themselves to know when it’s “the one’ and expect a certain feeling or reaction from their bridal party. This doesn’t always happen. TV has a lot to answer for …the outburst of tears when you find the perfect one is actually pretty rare. The main thing is that you feel beautiful in your final one and that you don’t want to take it off.
Myth: You have to wear shape wear or a bra with any dress.
Answer: Of course any bride can wear what they feel most comfortable in, however all bridal dresses have bust cup support in them to help. Let the dress fit around you, not you fit around the dress. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and confident on your special day.
Myth: We just want you to say ‘Yes’ to the Dress because we want the sale.
Answer: Of course we’d love you to be an SCB Bride but we want you to buy a dress that looks and feels amazing, compliments your figure and most definitely one that you fall in love with. We want you to feel empowered and confident on your wedding day, more than just selling you a dress.
Myth: I should wear a white wedding dress.
Answer: Although white is seen as a classic colour, there are quite a few shades to choose from and generally most brides only choose white for religious purposes. Ivory tends to be the chosen alternative to white. Ivory is an off white and usually much more complimentary to skin tones. We also have many beautiful dresses in a more romantic warmer, nude, skin tonal colours.
Your dress should reflect your style and taste and make you feel fabulous. That’s why brides throughout Shropshire and beyond trust us here at SCB to help them find their perfect dress for their perfect day.
Myth: A plain gown is boring.
Answer: Wrong! You can make as big a statement in a knockout classic gown as in a sparkled, highly embellished dress, sometimes “less is more”. It’s all about personal style, plus a simplistic dress means more options for accessories, I’m thinking veils, jewellery and shoes…!
