Petula and Gary Fisher – 30th December 2023

Tell Us How You Met and All About Your Proposal …

We reconnected on X (earlier Twitter). We then met in the Maldives and knew that this was the partnership and love we wanted.

There wasn’t a traditional proposal and it happened organically (much like our relationship). While we were in Covent Garden, Gary simply asked me to pick out an engagement ring. We then called our families and told them that we got engaged.

Let’s Talk About The Dress And Your Journey …

Finding my dream wedding dress at SCB was nothing short of a magical experience. Kerrie and Jackie made Gary (now my husband) and me feel relaxed yet special. They were incredibly enthusiastic and so patient as I explored different styles and seemed just as excited as we were when I found “the one.”
I was so thrilled with my dress that we cancelled our appointment at another bridal shop, fully trusting that Jackie, Kerrie, Unjennie & Lauren would have the dress ready for me to wear in just two months, when I returned to the UK from India.

I wanted a classic and glamorous style…
I loved the elegance of the minimalistic satin ballgown skirt with hand pockets and train and the romantic touch of the strapless sweetheart neckline and corset bodice.

I wore Martina Liana 1448

How Did You Feel In Your Gown On The Day …

Like a princess, although I never dreamt of getting married in a castle (thanks to my husband for making it happen and to my mum-in-law for telling us about SCB and taking us there)

How Did Your Partner React When They Saw You In Your Dress …

Gary loved it – he said he knew I’d pick this dress because I came out of the room absolutely glowing.

Where Was Your Venue And What Made You Choose The Venue …

During our holiday in the UK (we both live overseas), we visited Ludlow Castle, where my husband had gone to college. By chance, we spotted a sign advertising it as a wedding venue. Curious, we went to inquire and met Jillian, who was wonderful. She guided us through every step of the planning and oversaw the event on the day itself.

Are There Any Special Memories You Would Like To Share From Your Special Day …

Getting married in the castle felt like a fairytale come to life, surrounded by the love of friends and family. Gary and I had written our own vows, making it a deeply personal and beautiful moment. It was made even more magical by my niece Zara, singing Beyoncé’s Halo – her voice filled the space, creating an unforgettable, heartfelt atmosphere that made the occasion feel truly perfect.

Tell Us About Your Wedding Colour And Theme …

Fresh flowers/foliage and candles – Eucalyptus garlands and off-white roses and flowers. My sister in Australia and Teresa from Twigs Florists did the decorations.

Perfect Planning – Can You Give Future Brides Any Tips For Planning The Big Day …

1. I found our caterers ‘Luca’s Events’ on hitched.co.uk. The food and service was amazing and the guests loved it.
2. I also found our wedding photographer ‘Catherine Evans’ online and we really liked her work, so contacted her and she was terrific on the day.
3. Share responsibilities – give close family and friends some tasks to do the day before and on the day.
