Tell Us How You Met and All About Your Proposal …

Me and George met on New Years Eve 14 years ago at a rave! Always makes me laugh because anyone who really knows me, knows I’m not a raver but so glad that my friends talked me into it that night!

Me and George were together a good 7 years before he proposed to me! We already had two boys and were totally committed to one another. We went away for the weekend for my birthday to Cardiff (our favourite city) and George had booked us a really lovely hotel and dinner reservation!

George proposed to me in our hotel room before we left for dinner! It was very unexpected and I was so taken back! We have a bit of a joke because George and my family call me FBI Sarah because there’s nothing I don’t know! 😅 I have no idea how he managed to keep it a secret from me but it was the loveliest suprise and we celebrated all weekend! 🥂

Let’s Talk About The Dress And Your Journey …

I loved every moment of finding my dream wedding dress at SCB! I think for me, what I loved most – apart from the most warmest welcome and being greeted by the most knowledgeable ladies – was walking in with an expectation of the kind of dress I wanted (fitted, long sleeves) and walking out with the complete opposite!

My vision of how I wanted to look on my wedding day was classic, romantic and very natural but also fun. Im not one for a lot of makeup and fuss day to day and I wanted to be able to look back on my photographs in years to come and really see me in the pictures. I feel like my dress choice really portrayed this – I LOVE love pearls and the pearl finish on my dress was just stunning! I think I was sold when I realised I would probably never wear a dress like this again! I just loved how it made me feel!

On the day I felt amazing! Those final moments in my bridal suite, with all my bridesmaids, gave me the chance to really look at myself and take it all in – I felt confident, beautiful and most importantly 100% comfortable! All my friends and family echoed this too. I had compliments all day about how beautiful my dress was! It’s safe to say I ate and drank my way through the day without feeling worried about any bloating in front of my photographer and truly had the most amazing day!

How Did Your Partner React When They Saw You In Your Dress …

There were so many times I wanted to tell George about my wedding dress! We don’t have secrets and we tell each other everything so to keep it a complete surprise – I found it very difficult! I’m so pleased I did though because he cried his eyes out when he saw me walking down the aisle and told me all day how beautiful I looked!

Where Was Your Venue And What Made You Choose The Venue …

We chose Netley Hall as our wedding venue because it was very much the style of wedding we wanted! It’s local to us, it felt luxurious, the gardens and views are just stunning and the venue itself is so versatile with so many ways to adapt your wedding. The team couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble! All our families travelled and stayed in the cottages onsite and it was just magical all being together for the whole weekend. Of course the staircase played a big part too! The grand hall is just beautiful!

Are There Any Special Memories You Would Like To Share From Your Special Day …

The whole day and lead up to our wedding day was special but I think for us, having our two boys share it all with us was everything and more! They gave us our wedding rings during the ceremony and it just meant so much to have them there with us and them be at ages where they will always remember mum and dad getting married!

Tell Us About Your Wedding Colour And Theme …

Again, I really wanted everything to be classic and natural. Netley Hall is so grand and beautiful that you don’t need to do alot in terms of decor – the venue speaks for itself!
I had sage green as my wedding colour, lots of white roses and greenery/ eucalyptus and candles! Me and my dad made a doughnut wall as my boys are doughnut mad and this was a great hit!

How Did You Make Your Day Unique To Your Love Story …

Our wedding was unique to us in every single way! Meeting at 17+21 years old, raising two amazing boys together and then getting to celebrate 14 years later by getting married and sharing it with all our nearest and dearest. I just feel so proud of us! It’s a real ‘we made it’ moment!!

First Dance …

We had Ronan Keating – when you say nothing at all. Half way through we changed to ‘freed from desire’ and everyone got up and joined us! It was so much fun looking around and watching all our guests jumping, dancing and singing along!

Perfect Planning – Can You Give Future Brides Any Tips For Planning The Big Day …

I think ultimately take time for you two and really take it all in! The day goes by so quickly!

Don’t sweat the small stuff because it all comes together on the day! Choose a good photographer who really listens and captures the images you want! We didn’t want to spend ages and ages having group photographs, we wanted to be present with our guests and our photographer was fabulous at capturing everything we wanted without us standing around taking group shots for hours!

Lastly, ladies get yourselves a good, comfortable pair of bridal shoes!
